    HOW TO DECORATE WITH RUGS

Rugs are to our homes what shoes are to a carefully selected outfit. A rug can make or break your room. Rugs can make all the difference to a room; they can change the entire look and feel of your room. Rugs can be used to create harmony and subtly complete the room, or rugs can be used to make a statement.

RUGS CAN BE USED TO CONNECT SPACES

Do you often feel that rooms or areas of your home are in silos, completely disconnected from your home as a whole? By using rugs with similar styles or colours in different rooms, a visual connection is created. This will in turn create a ‘flow’ from one room to the next and help each room in your home feel ‘connected’ to the next.

    SOUND BUFFER

If you have hardwood floors or tiles in your home you might be use to the stomping of feet of the patter of pets running around – if this works on your last nerve, a rug can be used to absorb majority of the sound.

    LAYERING

You should never be restricted and think that one rug is all you can use. If you love a certain rug but it seems to be too small for your space, don’t be afraid to layer multiple rugs on top of each other – feel free to experiment with layers of different colours, patterns and even textures.

    CREATE DESIGNATED SPACES

Many of us are leaning more towards open plan living, which or course has its perks, but it can often leave your furniture pieces looking lost. A rug can be used to create designated ‘zones’ within your living space and is a great way of grounding furniture pieces.

However you choose to style your rug, never underestimate the difference it can make to the final look and feel of not only a room but your home!
