    Your bedroom is the one room in your home where you spend most of your time, it is intended to be a peaceful sanctuary of rest and relaxation.
     
    When your bedroom is the smallest room in your home it can turn the sweet dreams into a nightmare before you know it.

    REMOVE THE CLUTTER

    It is often said that your kitchen should be the cleanest room in your home, although we agree – have you ever tried sleeping in a cluttered room? It definitely makes the walls feel a lot closer than what they truly are.
     
    Have a closer look at your bed side tables, are they filled with unnecessary clutter or do they serve a purpose, both functionally and athletically. We suggest emptying your bedside tables at least once a month and get rid of anything that no longer serves a purpose.
     

    TAKE SOME TIME AND REFLECT

    We have all heard the term ‘fake it ‘till you make it’, this rings true for small spaces. Although a mirror should be considered a staple in your bedroom, adding a few extra reflective surfaces go a long way to making a smaller room look much larger.  

    Making use of smaller mirrors grouped together of even chrome accessories will allow the light to bonce around, creating the illusion of a larger room.

     

    THINK VERTICALLY

    Whether your room is large or small, any room that utilizes space effectively has one thing in common, effective use of vertical space. When floor space is limited, don’t let the space on your walls go to waste! Add a few extra shelves that can be used as storage space or even a home for photo frames that will defiantly add a personal touch.
     

    LIGHTING MATTERS

    It is common knowledge that white rooms appear larger and fresher – in the same breath your room does not need to look washed of colour. Adding soft neutral colours will add just the right amount of warmth to make your room feel more homely. Don’t be afraid to add a pop of colour or to play with a variety of warmer tones.
     

    Your lighting should stop there, adding a variety of different light sources will keep your room from feeling dark and gloomy. Make use of decorative overhead lights, side lamps as well as standing floor lamps to add variety.

     

    SELECT A FOCAL POINT

    Creating a focal point in a smaller space draws your eye to the focal point in turn drawing attention away from the size of the room. Create a focal point with a decorative or statement headboard or be darling and create a focal wall with wall paper.
