EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DECORATING WITH FAKE PLANTS

WHAT IS A FAUX PLANT?

Artificial plants have had a bad reputation in the home furnishing and interior design world. To some individuals, fake plants are only slightly better than weeds in the plant kingdom hierarchy. And frankly, faux plants from decades ago deserved this bad reputation as they were manufactured from thick hard plastic that did not look or feel at all real. Fortunately for those that lack the blessed green thumb, those days are long gone and the fake plants of today are exceptionally realistic, meaning you do not have to worry about under or over watering your plants. Crafted from soft, natural looking materials, our latest range of fake plants are extremely long-lasting and lifelike.

CAN ARTIFICIAL PLANTS BE A GOOD HOME DECORATING IDEA?

Artificial plants are an excellent home decorating alternative, they allow you to easily add a breath of life into your space without stressing over the commitment of looking after house plants. Faux plants and faux flowers are also a very cost-effective way of decorating your home as they will not wilt or die over time, therefore saving you from having to keep buying fresh plants and blooms. We are pro faux plants and absolutely love the ease that comes with styling them throughout your home in various different ways and settings.

1 FAKE PLANTS LOW MAINTENANCE

Not everyone has a green thumb, and we often struggle to keep our flowers and house plants alive for longer than a few weeks. With fake plants, you get all the beauty without the worry about over or under watering them, trying to figure out how much sunlight they should get and stressing about if they will die while you are away on holiday. Fake plantsare extremely low maintenance, from taking them home from the shop all they need is to be perfectly placed in the right spot in your home and you are good to go. We do suggest that you avoid placing your fake plants in direct sunlight for extended periods of time to prevent the harmful UV rays damaging the fake plant or affecting its colouring over time.

2 ARTIFICIAL PLANTS ARE DURABLE

Real plants and flowers can be extremely delicate, as well as temperamental by demanding certain amounts of hours in the sun and specific quantities of water throughout the day. This commitment to trying to keep house plants alive can seem unattainable and frustrating. Fake plantshowever, can last for years without any maintenance as they are crafted from durable, sustainable materials. Due to fake plants being skillfully crafted to closely resemble the real thing but just from durable materials, they can hold up their shape and quality for many years.

3 FAUX PLANTS LOOK GOOD IN ANY INTERIOR SPACE

There are some fake plants that look extremely fake and ghastly, which has in turn tainted the way many people view faux plants. However, one of the best things about artificial plants today, is how realistic they look. Crafted from unique materials and carefully curated, fake plantsare now often mistaken for the real thing due to how lifelike they appear. Gone are the days when artificial plants are created from thick hard plastic and feature minimal detailing. Our latest collection of fake plantsis exceptionally lifelike, so much so that if you are not an avid gardener you won’t be able to tell the difference.

4 FAKE PLANTS ARE VERSATILE

One of the very best things about fake plants is how versatile they are. They can virtually be placed in any room in your home and styled with any aesthetic and still look great. If you have real plants, you will know that certain plants have to be placed in certain areas in order to receive the perfect amount of sunlight in order to photosynthesise. In contrast, artificial plants will thrive no matter where they are homed, regardless of their environment.

WHAT TO REMEMBER WHEN STYLING FAKE PLANTS IN YOUR HOME

1 NOT EVERY TYPE OF PLANT LOOKS GOOD AS A FAUX

An important thing to remember and understand is that not all plants can be created to look as good as the real thing, and that is completely okay. There are some plants and flowers that look exceptionally realistic such as succulents, proteas, leafy pot plants and indoor palms and other trees. However, there are some plants and flowers that are harder to recreate to look perfectly lifelike, such as roses, peonies, and other flowers, but the fake versions are still very close.

Certain plants really lend themselves to the faux treatment, with succulents, leafy pot plants, and artificial orchids being at the top of the list. These certain fake plants are the perfect choice when going for faux plants as they are crafted form materials that feature similar qualities as the real thing, and can be popped in a corner of a room to add a natural green element to the room and it does not draw that much attention that your guests will be inspecting it to determine if it is real or artificial.

2 PUT YOUR FAKE SOMEWHERE IT COULD GROW IF IT WASN'T FAUX

To some individuals this may seem like the obvious thing to do, but it is a good point to think about when deciding where to place and style your artificial plants. An easy way to determine where your faux plants will look most realistic is to research where that specific type of plant should be place, whether it should be in the sun, the shade or a combination of the two. By placing your artificial plants in this designated area, it allows you to convince people that it might be real.

3 MAKE YOUR PLANT LOOK LESS FAKE

While fake plants do not need to be watered or maintained in the traditional sense, there are a few things that can be done to help your artificial plants blend in and appear more realistic. There are some fake plants that just come in the generic black plastic pot, by repotting your fake plant into a beautiful ceramic or metallic planter you give your artificial plant a fresh, new look. Another way to help make your fake plants appear less fake is by dusting them regularly, this helps make them look less like plastic plants and more like real plants. One of the best ways however, is to mix your fake plants in amongst your live plants. By blending your fake plants in with a variety of real plants it gives it a more real look and cohesive.
